Poster series – Poster series on the topic of "Nähe & Distanz" / “Closeness & Distance”.
FACETIME
The poster shows an elderly woman holding a tablet. From the screen, a loved one’s hand reaches out to gently touch her cheek, a symbolic, emotional moment. This image represents emotional closeness despite physical distance. As someone with a migration background, my connection to my family, especially my grandmother in Italy, plays a vital role in my life. Thanks to modern technology, this distance becomes bridgeable. The hand emerging from the screen may be surreal, but it captures how real our emotions feel during video calls. The red background emphasizes love, warmth, and a sense of security.
EMOTIONEN
This poster shows a mirrored image of a nurse: smiling on the left, sad with a tear on the right. The background colors reflect her emotional states. The image addresses the balance between emotional closeness and professional distance in caregiving. Nurses must form caring yet professional relationships with patients. Too much closeness can lead to emotional burnout and blurred boundaries, while too much distance may hinder empathy. Finding the right balance is essential for both the caregiver’s and the patient’s well-being.
2019
This poster features two representations of the coronavirus: the one on the left is small, the one on the right much larger. The wordplay “Coro-FERN” and “Coro-NAH” emphasizes both the virus’s visual contrast and the message: What seemed far away in 2019 quickly became part of our reality. With this statement, I highlight how society often feels detached from distant crises, whether pandemics, terrorism, or natural disasters, until they affect us directly. Only then does the distant threat become an immediate reality.
